On the side note...I wanted to talk about Open Heart Surgery and children with Down syndrome. One of the markers for Down syndrome are various heart defects. Like, Lillian, she has two holes in heart. As of right now, we are not too concern with them. The one of concern is her VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect)However, her cardiologist did say, that if they do not close on their own in a few more years, we will be heading down that road of Open Heart Surgery as well.
It's so unreal to think about your own child having to have such major surgery. But, I'm so grateful for the doctors and specialist out there that Open Heart Surgery is almost an everyday kind of thing. Almost...ALMOST a type of surgery with great success. But, as a parent you still have to worry and hope for the best. We pray that the surgeon and his staff are in good spirit and more than confident. I can't imagine going into surgery without the trust in the surgeon and his staff! But, I will wait for my turn in a few more years and only hope for the best.
So, for now, I will pray for Gabby and her surgeon!
